About Castor
Castor is a beautiful town of around 1000 people situated in the heart of Central Alberta. Drive East on Hiway #12 from Stettler and in just 40 minutes, you will drive through an oasis of evergreen trees, fish ponds, quiet streets and activity centers that make some larger towns envious. There are some excellent business opportunities for the business minded adults and many beautiful homes priced just right for those starting a family or those retiring and wanting a simpler life style.
As you enter the slow to 50 km speed zone on the hiway as you come toward the town, you will see a sign on your left that welcomes you to our beautiful town. Turn left and drive past the sign. Take a right on the first road and you will drive by just one of our senior accommodations in town. You see, over 25% of our population are seniors and we take very good care of them. Turn left at the corner past the senior's manor and you will pass our Insurance & Real Estate Office on your left, just before you come to a stop sign. This is now the main street. Look around. On your left is the Town Hotel and restaurant. Across the street to the left is an Alberta Treasury Branch. To the right is a Chinese Restaurant. On your right at the stop sign is the Battle River Credit Union. Turn right on main Street and drive past a Newspaper, Chartered Accountant Office, Laundromat, Post Office, Food Town Outlet and many other small shops.On the wall of the Laundromat beside the Post Office, see the painted murals. Across the street from the Post Office is the Magnet AG Food Store with painted murals on the outside walls.
There are many other services in town for the personal well being, entertainment and comfort of all people.
Drive through the town and see the hospital, fish ponds and waterways and many quiet places to sit and visit or walk around and enjoy. If you like golfing, there is a beautiful 9 hole golf course for your putting pleasure. Yes, Castor is one of the best kept secrets in Central Alberta.
